Book Launch at the Wiener Holocaust Library

To mark the publication of The Long Death of Adolf Hitler, the Wiener Holocaust Library, London hosted a special launch event on Wednesday 11 March. Caroline Sharples addressed a packed audience, outlining some of the unusual ways in which ordinary people around the globe have engaged with the idea of Hitler’s death – and discussing how the wartime Allies feared a potential Hitler shrine or martyrdom legend that could affect policymaking during the postwar occupation of Germany. The event was chaired by Professor Bill Niven and generated lively discussion! Enormous thanks to Yale University Press for providing refreshments, and the Wiener Holocaust Library for their kind hospitality.
